Product Safety
Every Little Bites plate, bowl, cup, and utensil is made from just two materials: food-grade silicone and 304 food-grade stainless steel. Nothing else. Every product is independently tested by accredited third-party laboratories and certified for sale in the US, EU/UK, and Australia/New Zealand.
The promises we keep
- BPA Free — No bisphenol A. Not detected in independent silicone testing.
- Lead Free — Not detected in any material across the full range — every product, every colour.
- Phthalate Free — All eight regulated phthalates not detected. Tested across every product.
- PVC Free — No PVC anywhere. Just silicone and stainless steel.
- Cadmium Free — Not detected in our bibs or our stainless steel.
- No Heavy Metal Migration — 21+ heavy metals tested in food-contact migration. All not detected.
- No Odour or Taste Transfer — Sensory testing scored 0/4 against a control sample.
- Dishwasher Safe — Built to handle repeat dishwasher and steriliser cycles.
What our products are made from
We use just two materials, both chosen because they're inert, durable, and gentle enough to put in a baby's mouth thousands of times.
304 food-grade stainless steel
Also called 18/8 stainless steel — the same grade used in commercial kitchens and medical equipment. It's roughly 72% iron, 18% chromium, and 8% nickel, plus trace amounts of manganese, silicon, cobalt, carbon, nitrogen, phosphorus, and molybdenum.
Independent testing has confirmed our chromium content sits between 18–19%, well above the 10.5% minimum required by the FDA's GRAS specification for food-contact stainless steel.
It doesn't rust, doesn't leach chemicals, doesn't absorb flavours or odours, and stands up to repeated dishwasher and steriliser cycles. Our stainless steel is supplied by Guangdong Yongjin Metal Technology Co., Ltd in Yangjiang, Guangdong.
Food-grade silicone
Used for the soft outer sleeves on our plates, bowls, and cups; the handles on our utensils; the lids on our cups; the covers on our straws; and our bibs. Heat-resistant, dishwasher-safe, soft to the touch, and grippy enough to keep a plate or bowl from sliding off a high-chair tray.
Every colour in our range — Caramel, Milk White, Dark Pink, Moody Blue, Beige, Brown, and Green — has been individually tested. Cup colour variants are tested separately as well.
Where it's made
All Little Bites products are manufactured by Shenzhen Kean Silicone Product Co., Ltd in Shenzhen, Guangdong, China — a specialist supplier of children's silicone and stainless steel dining products that meets FDA, EU, and CPSIA manufacturing standards.
Independently tested
We don't test our own products. We send samples to independent third-party laboratories accredited under the same standards used by major children's brands worldwide. Results are issued under the labs' accreditations — not ours.
- Consumer Testing Technology Co., Ltd (CTT) — Dongguan, China. Accredited by CNAS (L3068), recognised under ilac-MRA, and CPSC-accepted (Lab ID 1026) for US children's product testing.
- SGS-CSTC Standards Technical Services Co., Ltd — Guangzhou, China. CNAS accredited.
- STC (Guangdong) Company Limited — Dongguan, China. Accredited for EU food contact testing.
Every claim, backed by evidence
Tap any claim below to see exactly what was tested and the result.
BPA Free
Bisphenol A was not detected in independent silicone testing (CTT, November 2022; SGS, May 2020).
Lead Free
Lead was not detected in any substrate material across our full range — silicone or stainless steel — well below the CPSIA limit of 100 mg/kg (CTT, March 2026).
Phthalate Free
All eight regulated phthalates (DBP, BBP, DEHP, DINP, DNHP, DIBP, DCHP, DPP) were not detected across all products and all materials tested (CTT, March 2026).
PVC Free
Declared by the manufacturer (Shenzhen Kean Silicone Product Co., Ltd, March 2024). Our products are made from silicone and stainless steel only — no PVC is used in any component.
Cadmium Free
Cadmium was not detected in our bibs (STC, May 2024) or in our 304 stainless steel raw material (SGS, June 2024) — well under the EU REACH limit of 100 mg/kg.
No heavy metal migration
Migration testing under EU and German regulations (1935/2004, CM/Res(2013)9, German LFGB Sections 30/31, BfR) found all 21+ heavy metals not detected. EN 71-3 migration testing on cups also found all 19 elements not detected across every material tested.
Food-grade silicone
Our silicone passes the extractive limits set by the FDA's 21 CFR 177.2600 — the standard governing rubber articles for repeated food contact. Tested for both water and hexane extractives, with results well below the regulatory limits.
Food-grade stainless steel (304)
Independent testing confirms chromium content of 16–19% across our products, well above the 10.5% minimum required by the FDA's GRAS specification for food-contact stainless steel.
No odour or taste transfer
Sensory testing under EU 1935/2004 and German LFGB scored 0/4 — meaning no detectable difference between water exposed to our stainless steel and a control sample (SGS, June 2024).
Dishwasher safe
Declared by the manufacturer; both materials are inherently compatible with repeated dishwasher and steriliser cycles.
Thermal shock resistant
Our cups passed thermal shock resistance testing under EN 14350:2020+A1:2023, the European standard for child drinking equipment (CTT, November 2025).
No formaldehyde
Formaldehyde was not detected in EN 14350 testing on our cups (CTT, November 2025).
No volatile compounds
Volatile compound content was not detected in EN 14350 testing on our cups (CTT, November 2025).
No N-nitrosamines
All 26 N-nitrosamines and N-nitrosatable substances tested were not detected in our cups (CTT, November 2025).
Colour fast
No visible colour difference detected after standardised colour fastness testing on our cups (CTT, November 2025).
CPSIA tracking labels
Manufacturer name, location, date of production, and batch code are all present on consumer packaging — the four pieces of information required by CPSIA Section 103 (CTT, June 2025).
Regulatory compliance
Our products meet or exceed the consumer safety regulations for every market we sell in.

A few notes on testing
Test results are based on samples submitted by the manufacturer to accredited third-party laboratories. "Not detected" means below the limit of quantitation for that test method. "Not applicable" means the test wasn't required for that product configuration — for example, lead-in-paint testing isn't applicable to our products because we don't use surface coatings.
Some hazard classifications you may see on raw stainless steel material safety data sheets (carcinogenicity, respiratory sensitisation) relate to occupational exposure to dust and fumes during industrial processing — they don't apply to finished solid products used by consumers. Our most recent comprehensive testing was completed in March 2026.
