I'm Julia, a registered dietitian, and mum to Chloë and Louie. Eleven years of clinical practice, a Master's in nutrition and dietetics, and menus designed for many early childhood centres across New Zealand.

Little Bites is my podcast too, and through my Starting Solids course I help families begin this journey confidently. The same idea runs through all of it: clear, evidence-based, judgement-free support through the messiest and most magical stage of feeding.

There's already plenty of good feeding gear out there. Suction bowls are everywhere, and there are some lovely silicone brands. What I couldn't find was one range with all of it, in the combination I actually wanted: stainless steel where the food sits, soft silicone where little hands grip.

I wanted a stainless-and-silicone bowl and a matching divided plate. A first spoon that was long, skinny and flexible. A cutlery set in stainless and silicone rather than plastic. A cup that could grow with them, two lids and an open cup, not three separate purchases. And a bib that genuinely catches things.

Nobody made all of that. I'd have been ordering from multiple different suppliers to assemble one set, and it still wouldn't have matched.

So I made it. Six pieces designed around the way babies learn to feed themselves, in materials built to outlast the high-chair years rather than be replaced twice before a first birthday.
